This time, I try to re-program the code of the program into pattern, and pattern becomes the encoded message. The fabric is not only a pattern, but also a hidden message.
Research
The initial study of the weaving and knitting machine to determine the next feasible development.
Weaving Pattern
The first step is to be able to weave a recognizable pattern.
Digital Control
In order to speed up the weaving, the weaving machine can be programmed to control each stitch. Since no knitting machine was available, I built own simple digital control weaving machine.
Encoding System
To build the encoding system, I initially tried to use Morse code or ASCII which is commonly used for character encoding. It was not easy to decode it, so I changed it to a regular arrangement of dot matrix characters.
Procedure
The process from text assignment, encoding, weaving to decoding.
Digital
The overall process is simplified and digitally controlled.
Workshop
The resulting coded tapes can be used in workshops or other forms to create higher value.
Future
What can be changed after the system is produced, different materials, coding methods, applications, etc.
